Hello all,
My name is Andreas Beyersdorf and I will be writing today's post. I am a graduate student at the University of California, Irvine and am working on the same project as Barry. Today was our first day of integration (installing our equipment on the Twin Otter). Because of the weight of the equipment we had to use a forklift to place the racks which will hold our equipment onto the plane. Fortunately, there were no accidents and we have installed 2 of the 4 racks.
Barry had previously posted about the condition 1 (whiteout) on Saturday, November 12. I had the unfortunate experience of being out at "Happy Camper" that day. "Happy Camper" is a survival school where they make you camp outside for the night and teach you what to do in case of a whiteout. Luckily, the weather didn't get bad
until after we had set up camp. However, when we were about to leave we found out our transportation was stuck and they had to send out the search and rescue to get us.
Well I'll talk to you all later,
Andreas
